Test report on the Sea Lion 10.6 SUP board from AKD

Buying your first SUP board isn't that easy with so many products on the market.
Die Wahl fiel nach vielen Vergleichen auf ein SUP-Board aus der AKD Serie. Positiv fand ich schon mal, dass dieser Hersteller seit vielen Jahren in der professionellen Plastikverarbeitung tätig ist. Denn wer Kinderhüpfburgen herstellt, die enorme Belastungen aushalten müssen, der versteht sicher auch die Verklebungstechnik, die salzwasserresistent sein muss und hohe Temperaturen durch Sonneneinstrahlung verträgt. Und so war es auch!

Seit mittlerweile 2 Jahren fahre ich das Sea Lion 10.6 und dazu als Ersatzboard mit ähnlicher Bauweise, nur minimal größer, das Sea Star 10.8, was meistens für Besuch herhalten muss.

Die SUP Boards von AKD, eignen sich hervorragend um mit Stand-up-Paddling zu beginnen und sind extrem gut verarbeitet.

Nach 2 Saisons, wobei wir auch im Winter fahren, hat das Board viel Sand, Wind, hohe Temperaturen und die ersten kleinen Wellen erlebt, es hat sich nirgends eine Klebenaht gelöst und es ist auch sonst keine Materialermüdung festzustellen. Dazu kommt ein wirklich geringer Anschaffungspreis, leider sind die Boards aktuell seit Dezember 2023 komplett ausverkauft.

The wide and stable design is perfect for beginners and can also be used as a yoga SUP board or for fishing.

At 320x86x15cm and 337 litres, it carries even very heavy surfers with ease. The optimum load capacity is approx. 40-160 kg, making it suitable for 1-2 adults with a child or dog to paddle comfortably on the water together. In combination with the seat and double paddle, it can be used as a kayak.

The Sea Lion can be quickly converted into a kayak thanks to the eyelets already attached; the kayak seat must be purchased separately.

It comes with a large rucksack, a pump, a leash, a fin and a paddle that can be plugged together.

The sturdy glued pad on the board deck is particularly successful and you can comfortably stand on it for many hours, which is also ideal for yoga as the pad is very non-slip.

Leider sind die SUP-Boards nicht mehr verfügbar, der Shop ist auch nicht mehr erreichbar. Ich fahre meine beiden AKD-Boards immer noch konstant und bin nach wie vor begeistert. Die SUP-Boards sind in Top-Zustand und zeigen nirgends eine Materialschwäche. Echt schade, da findet man so eine tolle Board-Serie und dann geht die Produktion nicht weiter.
